Video Demonstrates Mortal Kombat's King Of The Hill Mode

by Dan Ryckert on Apr 13, 2011 at 01:42 PM

Fans of the early days of Mortal Kombat have fond memories of waiting in line at crowded arcades, watching other players and hoping to see a sweet fatality. NetherRealm wants to recreate that feeling in the new Mortal Kombat, as well as the "winner stays" policy. King of the Hill mode looks to be their answer, and allows players in the lobby to watch and interact via their avatars.

You'll be able to use your Xbox 360 avatar or select from a variety of MK characters. Along with cheering and booing, you'll be able to rate each match like an Olympic diving event, throw tomatoes at the screen, or hold up cheese, a diamond, a skunk, and presumably more.

It should make the process of waiting your turn more tolerable and perhaps even enjoyable. Also, that dude in the above image has the right idea by laughing at the concept of Stryker winning a match. Check out IGN's video of the mode below.
