Bethesda's Brink Coming Out Early

by Matt Helgeson on Apr 11, 2011 at 06:40 AM

We're used to game delays, but what about games that come out earlier than expected? It does happen every once in a while, so I'm going to coin an annoying, made-up term for it: "prelayed." The latest game to be bit by the prelay bug is Bethesda's Brink.

According to a press release sent out by Bethesda this morning, Brink will now be coming out on May 10 in North America instead of the previous May 17 launch date.

"Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn't see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready," said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. "It's apparent from the tremendous reaction so far that people are eager to jump online and play, and if we can make that happen earlier - we're going to."

Brink is being released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

What's the next game that's likely to get prelayed? Only time will tell.
