1 vs. 100 Reborn As A Facebook Game

by Matt Helgeson on Apr 09, 2011 at 12:15 PM

Microsoft's Xbox Live multiplayer adapation of the then-hit television show 1 vs. 100 was to be the cornerstone of a large initiative of live, TV style game programming from the company. Sadly, it didn't quite work out that way, when Microsoft cancelled the third season of the game. Which is too bad; the game show format translated perfectly to Xbox Live, and the adaptation was well done.

However, it does look like those looking for an interactive 1 vs. 100 experience and home have something to be happy about. Gaming Angels is reporting that iWin is developing a 1 vs. 100 Facebook game for Endemol (the production company behind the TV show) that will launch this spring.

“We’ve enjoyed tremendous growth over the past year with our games on Facebook, and we are excited to team up with Endemol to launch two more internationally recognized TV game show brands on the platform with Deal or No Deal and 1 vs. 100,” said Peter Negulescu, President of iWin, Inc. “This further strengthens our portfolio of branded social games on Facebook and demonstrates our deep expertise in creating game experiences that can bring together millions of players of all ages on a daily basis.”

While many hardcore gamers like to look down on Facebook gaming, this pairing makes an awful lot of sense. With a good infrastructure and interface, 1 vs. 100 on Facebook might take a serious bite out of our workday productivity.
