Global Agenda Embraces Free-To-Play Model

It was only last summer that massively multiplayer shooter Global Agenda dropped subscription fees, but now it's moving even more strongly into the free-to-play arena.

Developer Hi-Rez Studios announced today that beginning with mid-April's "Free Agent" update, Global Agenda will be available completely for free for all users. All current content up to the level 50 cap will be playable without handing over any cash.

If you like the game enough that you are willing to pay for it, you can upgrade to Elite Agent status for a one-time $19.99 payment. This will increase the speed of leveling and gaining new gear. All players who have already purchased Global Agenda will be automatically upgraded to Elite Agents. In addition to Elite Agent status, players will be able to pay for "boosters" that will provide bonus XP, cash, and loot drops for a timed period of 10, 30, or 90 days.

The "Free Agent" update is expected to go live in mid-April, at which point anyone will be able to download Global Agenda for free.
