What's Happening

[UPDATE]: Is This Assassin's Creed III? Nope...

[UPDATE]: GI reader revistinha1 managed to dig up a link to the original Deviantart post of the clever mockup, which we missed during our search of the social network site yesterday.

Deviantart user boup0quod is the talented artist responsible for the image, which is just one of many professional-looking posters he has done for movies and video games.

Thanks again to revisitinha1 for the tip!

[ORIGINAL STORY]: A provocative new image has popped up on the Internet, and rumors are already claiming that it's from Assassin's Creed III. However, critics are already calling the shot a fake. So which is it? You be the judge...

VGHQ posted the image, which the site says was sent to them by a tipster. Readers in the post's comments section claim that it's a fake taken from Deviantart, but it's an exciting possibility nonetheless. Here's the full image:

What do you think? Could it be legit, or is it just the wishful thinking of a talented fan?

Thanks to Kyle Sondergaard for the news tip!

  • its possible!

  • I know the person who made this... it is fake!
  • Cool idea, but 99.9% sure its fake.

  • I hope that is fake, because that looks stupid.

Hopefully it's set in modern times, or at least past the 1900's.

  • i agree. Paris sounds like a great setting but this looks fake, doesnt seem right for the character to be dressed like that... needs more hood.

  • i say 50% chance its the work of a fan and 50% chance its real. but it may just be the fact that im always ready for another AC game, but that may be the reason that i hope its real

  • Definitely a fake, but I would love for it to take place in the 1700's.

  • I think it's a bit of clever marketing. But then again, I am rather gullible so....

  • I would love it, but it doesn't look real.

  • Wishful thinking. Definitely. Anything official will go through official means.

  • Ok i already posted the proof that is fake , but lets try again , boup0quod.deviantart.com/.../Assassin-s-Creed-3-Poster-198599750

gameinformer should update the article, this one and the mortal kombat one, Kintaro isn't DLC =P.

  • i like the idea of the french revolution, ecspecially if it starts in july of 1789 because the "storming of the bastille" took place then. however i dont want to wear that stupid outfit...hopefully its not a fake
  • I still want a viking or pirate assassin's creed
  • Fake!!!!

  • If this is a fake, it's a convincing one to me. There are some problems though.

While I enjoy the idea of Assassin's Creed in the time of the French Revolution, Desmond really doesn't have enough time to be trapizing around France. After the end of AC:B, there are only about three months until the launch of the Piece of Eden-equipped Abstergo Satellite. The problem for the Assassins is not trying to find another Piece of Eden, but to stop Abstergo.

There'd be no sense in sending Desmond back in time after he spends however much time he will in his coma...Unless Abstergo takes his Piece of Eden!!! *gasp!* My imagination is now running wild!

  • I've seen some people saying that the coordinates from the Da Vinci Disappearance lead to the next setting for AC. That completely contradicts this picture, as the coordinates are north of a city called Rome in New York.

  • While being a neat little poster, I really think this is fake. It just looks like some awesome fanservice.

  • Someone posted the link to the creator of this picture on Deviantart. She just says that she HOPES this is the setting for the next Assassin's Creed. So at the moment, this isn't real.

  • Whether this is legitimate or not, I would enjoy seeing a new Assassin's Creed in this time period, Paris or London.
  • OMFG!!!! O_______O
