Oddworld Alum Scoring Next Ratchet & Clank

by Jeff Cork on Mar 29, 2011 at 11:26 AM

Composer Michael Bross, whose work includes Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stanger's Wrath, will be composing music for the latest installment in Insomnic's Ratchet & Clank series. Bross will be creating more than four hours of music for the game, which is eerily called Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. Coincidence? Insomniac's not saying, though they do have suspiciously nice things to say about him.

"The deeper we get into the development of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, the more evident it becomes that Michael was the perfect choice as the composer for our project," says audio lead Jamie McMenamy. "His music is epic and innovative, providing the cutting edge sound and cinematic quality we desired for the game. We are truly excited to have him on board.”

OK, perhaps the titular "4" isn't a reference to the approximate total length of original music that's been composed specifically for the game but a clever nod to the fact that up to four players can experience it cooperatively. Players can choose from Ratchet, Clank, Qwark, and Dr. Nefarious as they investigate a creepy device known only as the Creature Collector.

Spooky.
