The lights are on
Rockstar Games is gaining plenty of attention with its upcoming crime thriller L.A. Noire, and it looks as though some of it's bleeding outside of traditional gaming venues, too. The game has been chosen as an official selection at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, the first time that a video game has received such recognition.
Rockstar will be giving attendees an world exclusive look at the game, including a live playthrough of one of L.A. Noire's cases, on April 25, as part of the Tribeca Talks series of panels.
“What Rockstar and Team Bondi have accomplished with L.A. Noire is nothing less than groundbreaking,” says Geoff Gilmore, Tribeca Enterprises' chief creative officer. “It’s an invention of a new realm of storytelling that is part cinema, part gaming, and a whole new realm of narrative expression, interactivity, and immersion. We are poised on the edge of a new frontier.”
Gilmore will be moderating a Q&A session focused on the game's development and story immediately following the live demo.

wow. this recognition is a milestone for the industry. congrats to rockstar.
I can't wait for this game. It's gonna be Epic
Knowing how impressed those that have already seen the game have been... the general critical acclaim, now this, the anticipation is almost painful X.x
That's very cool. I want to play it right now.
Great, now all this hype has probably already jinxed the game into sucking. The gameplay, at least.
Wish I had my L.A. Noire already
I am very excited for this game. Red Dead was my game of the year last year and it seems like Rockstar is ontrack to wint it again this year.
Suck this video games aren't art people! UNH!
Hamfisted tongue in cheek sarcasm aside, this is pretty awesome. I want to see a game like Mass Effect with that animation tech at work.
RockStar is on Point!
All Hands on deck.. this is seriously looking to be the #1 game of the year.. this is un-heard of a video game getting a pick @ tribecaa?? are you kidding me??
after red dead redemption.. now this..add another thing to do in the gaming world for 2011
Wow this is quite the honor, especially for a video game. Only Rockstar...
This game totally deserves this
Wow this is great news. It's nice to see a video game being seen as a filmatic piece, rather than mere intteractive entertainment. I really cannot wait for this gam tocome out.
Look at this: the first thing related to gaming that has been made an official selection at Tribeca Film Festival (as far as I know), and IT ISN'T A TERRIBLE GAME-MOVIE (i.e. Super Mario Bros THE MOVIE, Pokemon THE MOVIE #1337, Resident Doom THE MOVIE,etc.)! While this might open up the way to more games of the same quality as LA Noire will undoubtably be, it will also give pro-gamers more ammo to use against anti-gamers, and protect themselves and their favorite media from ill-advised government legislation attempts (i.e. Schwarzenegger vs ESA). Hope "LA N" wins Best in Show.
This is amazing. Gaming is finally getting the respect it deserves for the cinematography that we are presented with in numerous games. I can't wait for L.A. Noire to realese. This is a must have on my list of games for 2011.
