Heavy Rain's David Cage Says Sony Has Best Developers In World

by Matt Helgeson on Mar 24, 2011 at 03:48 PM

Quantic Dream's David Cage is quickly becoming one of the most outspoken game creators in the industry, recently ruffling some feathers at his GDC presentation, in which he proclaimed "Game mechanics are evil!" However, there's no denying that the man has talent, as proved by the critical and commercial success of Heavy Rain.

He's also not shy about singing the praises of his publisher Sony. In an interview with Computer and Video Games, Cage was effusive when talking about Sony and its roster of internal development studios.

Cage said, "Being a part of a company with what are probably the best studios in the world is something really pleasant for us. We're happy to continue this relationship and create content for the PlayStation brand. But they fund our projects, so we're staying exclusive to PlayStation."

He says his loyalty to Sony stems from the company's unwavering support of Heavy Rain. "The relationship on Heavy Rain has been fantastic. They trusted us from day one, supported us all the way through. It was really a very risky project [for them] and they never let us down."

Later in the interview, Cage hinted that he's advising on a PS3 exclusive FPS title that "isn't Killzone 3." Hmm...sounds intriguing.
