Eidos Montreal Not Developing PC Deus Ex In-House

by Joe Juba on Mar 23, 2011 at 10:33 AM

The Deus Ex series may have gained its renown on PC, but consoles are clearly driving the development of Human Revolution.

Eidos Montreal, the developer behind the latest entry in the franchise, is not working on the PC version of the game in-house. Instead, the studio has established a partnership with Netherlands-based developer Nixxes Software. This was revealed by game director Jean-François Dugas in an interview with Shacknews, though he insists Eidos Montreal is very involved with PC version, saying: "All the design and changes to the design has been done in Montreal and sent to [Nixxes]. We review the builds. We review and then give comments about what works and what doesn't. It's the same process. It's the exact same process, except that the programmers aren't in the same office."

This isn't necessarily a bad sign for the game, but it does shed some light on the studio's priorities for the different versions of Human Revolution.
