Awesome Sci-Fi Movie Moon Reimagined As LucasArts Adventure Game

by Phil Kollar on Mar 21, 2011 at 03:05 PM

Appreciating the image above requires two things: 1.) You must have seen the 2009 film Moon and 2.) You must have a knowledge of and preferably fondness for old LucasArts SCUMM-based adventure games. Go work on those two and then come back to finish reading this story. Go ahead. I'll wait.

The image above, which pays homage to two incredibly awesome things, originated as fan art on the blog of Danish animator Mads Johansen. Johansen believes that the plot of Moon would work rather well within the structure of a Monkey Island-style game, and I have to agree.

For those who don't know, Moon follows the story of Sam Bell (played by Sam Rockwell), an astronaut who is contracted to work a lonely three-year shift on a lunar space station alongside an AI companion named Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey). If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend renting it or checking it out on Netflix Instant View.

Johansen says he may do more SCUMM fan art tributes if this one is well-received. Might I suggest a Girl With the Dragon Tattoo screen in the style of Sierra's underrated Lara Bow games?
