Metacritic Now Gathers iPhone/iPad Game Reviews

by Phil Kollar on Mar 19, 2011 at 01:00 PM

Love it or hate it, game review aggregation site Metacritic has become an important tool for many in the industry, both on the publisher and consumer side. Now the site is spreading its influence a little further, as it has begun pulling together reviews for iPhone and iPad games.

A blog post on Metacritic posted earlier this week introduced the site's new iPhone/iPad hub. Metacritic said the move "reflects the critical community’s growing acceptance of the iOS platform as a legitimate, full-fledged gaming system whose games can compete with those designed for the more established, dedicated gaming systems."

Certainly as gaming on iOS devices has grown, it's become harder to dig through the thousands of games available and figure out what's the best. The new coverage from Metacritic should help some consumers, and we'll definitely continue talking about the iOS and mobile games that we've been playing around the office right here on Game Informer.
