DKC Returns, New Super Mario Bros. Wii Post Big Sales

by Matt Helgeson on Mar 10, 2011 at 02:56 PM

Nintendo has released some U.S. sales total for a few of its big titles, and the numbers are impressive.

Following the February NPD data, Nintendo released its own sales data, which show the enduring power of some of its legendary franchises. To date, Donkey Kong Country Returns has sold over 2 million copies in the U.S. Impressive as that is, it's dwarfed by New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which has now moved over 8 million units in America. Pokemon SoulSilver has also breached the 2 million mark.

Nintendo also announced a strong month of Wii sales in February, with 454,000 consoles sold in the U.S. We're not sure how this stacks up against Microsoft or Sony, but it's good news for the system, which has been suffering in the sales department in recent months. Wii's Februrary sales also bring the console to over 85 million units sold worldwide.
