Toy Soldiers: Cold War Announced

by Matt Miller on Mar 09, 2011 at 11:33 AM

Signal Studios is working on a follow-up to their hit Live Arcade game from last year.

The independent studio made the announcement on the company's official website. The new game changes up the aesthetic by digging into the heyday of 80s action toys. "Superpowers collide in this playful homage to ’80s action toys and films. Command the powerful Cold War arsenals of the USA or USSR armies! Control base turrets, modern combat vehicles, fighter jets, attack helicopters, and commando action figures," the press release reads.

The game will include a new co-op mode that allows gamers to play with friends locally or online. There will also be an entirely new selection of modern weaponry to bring to bear against your opponent, including everything from battle tanks and AC-130 gun ships to nukes!

No screens have emerged as yet (the above screen is from the original game), but we're excited to see where Signal Studios takes the art direction for this new installment. The first Toy Soldiers was a blast.
