Magicka: Vietnam Is Really Happening

by Matt Miller on Mar 01, 2011 at 07:05 AM

How would wizards have changed the path of one of America's most contentious conflicts?

Magicka is a fun PC game that recently released. In the game you control a wizard that can create any number of different spell combinations, encouraging an experimental approach to gameplay. It also has a lighthearted tone, so iit shouldn't come as a surprise that the first expansion is going into unexplored territory -- the war-ravaged jungles of Vietnam.

We'll let the press release speak for itself. Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Arrowhead Studios had this to share:

"Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents? Wait, you haven’t ever wondered that? Ever? Okay, so we’re probably the only ones who have but in our defense: here’s your chance to stop being so closed-minded. Magicka: Vietnam delivers over-the-top action as players take on the role of four meek and physically inept wizards as they try to do what so many 80’s action stars have done in the past: blow stuff up."

If you're still reading, you're probably already sold on the concept. Here's the trailer.
