Milo Lives In "Emotion Capture" Video

Remember the borderline creepy Kinect tech demo from two E3s ago? Lionhead Studios' virtual child Milo is still in development, and this video shows off more fascinating tech from the team.

The project's drama director, John Dower, lays out his goals for the technology in the video below. It's cool stuff, overflowing with the shooting-for-the-moon spirit that Lionhead is known for – and footage and talk about what the actual game Milo stars in is. Color me surprised that this might turn out to be more than a tech demo after all.

If you could choose a kind of game to take advantage of this tech, what would it be?

  • This game should also have Chris Hansen in it if you catch my drift.
  • I honestly thought they cancelled this game.
  • That's cool.

  • still creepy

  • I love how GTA is his example for driving AND problem solving.
  • I still don't quite understand what the point of this game is. Is it to bridge the gap between virtual and reality?
  • I bet $5 you a bunch of pedophiles will buy this and an Xbox w/Kinect. (No hate please, I know a pedo will buy this)
  • I really want to see how this game does now and hope it comes out. It looks interesting and groundbreaking in a true sense.

  • Odd...

  • Why did they show Uncharted if they were talking about Xbox games? >_>
  • So does that Milo kid live like a Quarian or something. I sure hope he doesn't rupture his environmental suit.
  • Kinda scary to think what Kinect will be doing 2-3 years from now after more developers get behind its wheel

  • they said the same thing about fable 2 or 3. always talking about capturing that emotion. capturing those feelings that people really care for you or you for them wasn't there. it was hollow. and where the hell is Peter! i thought it was his job to try to explain emotion and love and caring. lol
  • Does anyone actually care about Milo anymore? And even if this does eventually find a way out of Lionhead, what market would this be for and who would even buy it?
  • That guy on the right in the picture looks like he broke his arm.
  • sounds new, but VERY boring game....

  • thats awesome

  • This game looks really interesting, but I'm still doubtful about how well it'll be executed. :/ I hope it works out though, since that'd be a really, really epic game.

  • If they can take this tech and make some kind of adrenaline pumping super hero game. Count me the F#ck in.

  • I have a feeling it will freak my daughter out. Then again, I have plenty of other games that can do that too. I don't know, this just looks weird to me. I don't really want to play daddy to a virtual child. I have enough of that in real life. Just sayin'
