Croteam Reveals Serious Sam 3 Details, First Screens

by Jeff Marchiafava on Feb 28, 2011 at 07:22 AM

Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric just announced Serious Sam 3's summer release a few weeks ago, but didn't announce any details beyond the game's existence. Today we learned a little more about the next installment of the campy sci-fi series, which still doesn't have an official title.

Croteam is calling the game Serious Sam 3: BFE, but isn't saying what 'BFE' stands for just yet. The developer did reveal that the game is a prequel to the first Serious Sam, taking place during the planet's final battle against the invading aliens. The game will feature new and returning enemies, a melee system, and the same sense of humor that the series is known for. Multiplayer will play an even bigger role Serious Sam 3, with the campaign reportedly supporting up to 16 players.

Serious Sam 3 will be released this summer on PC and "game consoles," though Croteam has yet to specify which ones. So, anyone want to take a guess as to what 'BFE' stands for?
