Ex-Bizarre Creations Devs Start Lucid

Nobody was happy that Project Gotham/Blur/Geometry Wars developer Bizarre Creations had to close its doors, but at least its staff are starting to get back on their feet.

Today it was announced that Ex-Bizarre Creations developers headed by Pete Wallace have formed Lucid in Liverpool. The company doesn't have any projects announced just yet, but we hope we'll hear something soon.

Recently, the studio's design manager, Gareth Wilson landed over at Sumo.

  • Yes! finally some good news, best of luck to all the ladies and gents to a bright future.

  • I'm now very very happy!

  • Its brilliant to see that the developers got started on a new studio instead of sitting on their arses.

  • Great news! Glad to see that all is not lost. Good luck guys.

  • I'm hoping they do another Blur like racing game. I honestly think it was one of those games that went under the radar and was very well done.
  • Wow. This is great news! Maybe they'll stay independent? If they are.

  • I'm glad to see these guys be able to start again. Hopefully things go better for them than they did in the last year as Bizarre Creations. Gamasutra posted an interesting article about their closure yesterday, which is worth a look-see if you're interested.

  • This should not come as a suprise.  This is what has been happening lately when studios get the axe.

  • Great news. I'm glad to see them starting new ventures.  Good luck!

  • I actually bought blur and would like to see them make more games

  • Best of luck to em. Dig the new name.

  • I am so angry at activision right now. To list of awful things they have done is to long, and closing one of the best driving game studios of all time is very evil.

  • Thats something......

  • Lol at the company name...

  • Great news! I like how, when most studios get shut down, you hear about new studios rising from the ashes shortly thereafter. Hopefully, Lucid will make games that are fun, unlike Bizarre. I haven't played a fun Bizarre-developed game since the Dreamcast days. Hopefully, Lucid will come out the gates with some fun, decidedly non-racing stuff. I mean, now's the time to do it, right? Good luck to them!

  • I hope this is the first of many good things for them

  • I figured this was going to happen. It only makes sense with such a large team of people who work together

  • Let's see what they can come up with now that they are freed from Activisions leash.

  • good for them

  • They should go back to Microsoft.
