Free DLC For Test Drive Unlimited 2

To make up for a launch plagued by technical issues, Atari and Eden Games are giving away the first premium DLC for Test Drive Unlimited 2.

In what basically amounts to an apology, Atari is making good with the gamers who have stuck with the racing title by not charging for the Exploration Pack. In addition, in a post on the game's official forum, Atari has announced that the following fixes have been made to address technical issues:

  • Logging into the game has been improved
  • Once into the game the online network experience is now much more stable in all areas
  • Save games no longer corrupt
  • Existing corrupted save games will be repaired in many cases
  • Friends lists are now populated
  • Invites now work correctly
  • Clubs have been brought back online
  • Exploits to gain money have been fixed
  • Casino access has been improved
  • Players will no longer lose money because of the Casino bug

These fixes are currently available on PC, and pending approval on consoles. At any rate, it looks like a pretty serious list of problems...enough to make me wonder how many people have stuck with the game this long to see these problems addressed. Seriously, "save games no longer corrupt"? Who puts up with that?

  • *tilts his head* Is that supposed to be the Apollo? Without the details on the front end being properly lit that car looks even uglier than it already is XD Anyway, can't scoff at free DLC - congrats to anyone who actually picked up the game; it's pretty far down on my list, presently.
  • I have a question about Xbox updates that I have been wondering about.  I recently read that 360 game updates go into the system cache...and that the cache only holds 4 or 5 updates at a time.  This means, won't there come a day when Microsoft stops supporting the 360 and then people will be SOL for playing games with the latest update?  I.e, it'll be original disc version or nothing?

  • I like free things

  • The game froze on me when it was saving and the save file was corrupted. Now my hard earned F***ing cars are gone, all my money are gone and the 20 or so hours I put into it are gone. I was at the point where I was actually enjoying the houses and the cars I have, and the so called "technical issues" had to ruin it.

I dont know why this particular experience pissed me off so much, but I took the game and its case, dumped it in a trash burning barrell and burned it. Ill never touch this game again. ever.
  • that sounds like a great deal to me. I love free things.

  • *** I remember the first Test Drive, was a *** game. Hope the second one is better!!!!

  • Will definately start playing this again when the title update arrives. Despite it's short comings when the game works it's enjoyable.

  • When are you guys going to review it? Actually, it sounds like you should wait until AFTER this update...
