German Bus Sim Puts You Behind The Comically Large Wheel...Of A Bus

The German games scene is a little different from what we're familiar with over here. In 2010, a farm-equipment simulator called Landwirtschafts Simulator 2011 was the second best-selling PC game priced under 30 euros over there, after World of Warcraft. With the release of Omnibus Driving Simulator, fans of public transportation can get in on the action. Who says farmers have all the fun?

The game, published by Aerosoft, includes a variety of buses that are presumably well known in Germany, including the doubleeckers SD200 and SD202. Each meticulously modeled bus can be outfitted with a variety of period specific ad wraps. Did I mention that the game is set in the '80s? You can even drive the BVG omnibus line 92, which runs from Spandau, Freudstraße to Heerstraße, Stadtgrenze in preunified Germany.

Take a look at the game in action below. It's oddly hypnotic stuff. If you're not feeling patient, skip ahead to the 6-minute mark, when the driver picks up some passengers who may or may not be androids. One thing's for sure: the moochers didn't pay the fare.

  • This comes also from the country who has a children's toy in which a plastic dog poops out little turds and kids clean it up.
  • Am i able to run over people?
  • Reminds me of when I was looking on steam and they had a rail simulator and all its expansion packs on sale,it was a game just about driving trains and thats all,but was on sale for $200.Sad part is,it was like 80% off,and normally was over a thousand dollars for driving a train around... But more on topic...I suppose some people get their kicks from emulating real life?Hence this,train/flight simulators and Middle Management in space...er,sorry..."Eve Online"
  • FINALLY! The game I have always wanted since the Ice Road Trucker games! I cannot wait to get my hold onto this! I think I am going to get into character and start hating everyone who takes my bus and slosh some whiskey around my mouth to get that constant intoxicated breath goin on. Man this is going to be a monumental game.
  • Yup, I'm pretty sure people don't walk like that.

  • Flight Simulator was terribly unrealistic when it started.  Look where they are now... oh yeah - nevermind.

Those Germans sure know how to get down!

  • They should make a game where you go to work in the morning but then you don’t have anything to do so you look at Gameinformer and Facebook the whole time. After a long day of looking at Gameinformer and Facebook I would love to play that!
  • This is just a glorified rip-off of desert bus. For shame.

  • Cool. Beans.

  • BRB importing this - super replay incoming
  • I really don't know what to say right now.

  • Rofl I guess its cool to see your town in a video game but seriously? You drive a bus. People work there whole lives not to do that.

But I like how the people waddle, and the driver says hello to them. lol

  • ... I'd play it.

  • *slow creeping smile* Eeeeeehhhhhhh X) The authentic sounds loud banging as it comes to a stop during the snow segment cracks me up... and I honestly can not help but want to play this.

  • if the full version of the game were free.. i might consider playing it, but only on a day when all other games seem overplayed and boring

  • So this is like the modern day version of Desert Bus. "Modern" here meaning the release date (the graphics look like they're from 1998).

  • What happens if the bus goes under 50 MPH?
  • Lol they are walking like they dumped in their pants or like they got nudered by the veterinarian.

  • 04:24 looks like GTA.
  • are all simulators boring?  i guess it has to be. its a simulator.  they're all boring.
