The lights are on
For the last year or so, PlayStation 3 commercials have ended with a similar phrase emphasizing the system's many functionalities: "It Only Does Everything." In 2011, they'll be shifting gears to a new message that they want on gamers minds.
The new marketing slogan focus -- "Only On PlayStation" -- was revealed by Sony senior brand manager Scott McCarthy in an interview with Industry Gamers. McCarthy said that where as "It Only Does Everything" was a message focused on selling hardware, "Only On PlayStation" will be more about the software, highlighting such major 2011 PS3 exclusives as Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Twisted Metal, and Uncharted 3.
According to McCarthy, this year presents "the strongest lineup we've ever had." Looking back over that list, I find it kind of difficult to argue. Does the idea of Sony pushing these games that are "Only On PlayStation" make you happy to own a PS3 (or want to purchase one if you don't)?
I've been happy with my PS3 for years but it's definitely nice to have so many great exclusives coming out this year. Makes me ALMOST keep my mind off of The Last Gaurdian which can't come out soon enough.
I kinda sorta not really want dislike yea and nay a PS3
Yes! All the good exclusives are on the PS3! Everyone who likes games should own one. And I'm really excited for Uncharted 3!
I own an xbox360 and have never owned a PS3 but that will change at the end of this year.
Heck no it doesn't. It just reaffirms my thought that Sony is fixated on the idea that exclusivity is like the golden cow of gaming. This isn't the first time that's been used in gaming ("Only on" has been used for N64 and for Xbox), but Sony just LOVES that it has games nobody else has. Yeah, maybe that's cool, but it really makes me want to throw a case of wrenches at a TV. If anything, this makes me glad I don't own a PS3. Am I missing out on some cool games? Sure I am. But I'd rather miss out than have a gaming console belonging to a company that tries to belittle everyone else out there and puff themselves up so much. It makes me sick.
Yes it would if I didn't already own one. I bought my PS3 the day I heard God Of War 3 was coming out for it. So yes exclusivity did make me buy my PS3. And I did get Killzone 3 the day it came out and that and God Of War 3 are reason enough to own one.
Yes, I am glad I already own a PS3. This is a great idea for pushing software sales. I like it.
i liked the new one better
Microsoft can't argue with that. Ps3 DOES just about everything
