The lights are on
For the last year or so, PlayStation 3 commercials have ended with a similar phrase emphasizing the system's many functionalities: "It Only Does Everything." In 2011, they'll be shifting gears to a new message that they want on gamers minds.
The new marketing slogan focus -- "Only On PlayStation" -- was revealed by Sony senior brand manager Scott McCarthy in an interview with Industry Gamers. McCarthy said that where as "It Only Does Everything" was a message focused on selling hardware, "Only On PlayStation" will be more about the software, highlighting such major 2011 PS3 exclusives as Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Twisted Metal, and Uncharted 3.
According to McCarthy, this year presents "the strongest lineup we've ever had." Looking back over that list, I find it kind of difficult to argue. Does the idea of Sony pushing these games that are "Only On PlayStation" make you happy to own a PS3 (or want to purchase one if you don't)?
Wow what an original ad campaign, im pretty sure no one has said that before....... but whatever. It is definitley going to be a good year in gaming.
Cool beans I guess, glad I have all 3 consoles though.
This is smarter. People by hardware for the software in most cases, not for the hardware as was previously advertised in the last slogan if you can call it that.
Dude I bought a PS3 last summer because of this year's lineup, and I couldn't have made a better purchase!
"It Only Does Everything" is a vague, crappy slogan - and obviously not true, because it doesn't play 360 or Wii games, so...where's the "Everything"? Sure, blah, blah, yawn, Blu-Ray.
"Only on Playstation" is the true selling point. There are so many AAA cross-platform titles coming out that ya' gotta differentiate your system with exclusives, otherwise you'll buy games on the platform most of your friends own.
It's cool, I like it for marketing it works, I actually like it better than the one they have been using!
I've always wanted a PS3 just because it is king when it comes to exclusives. However, I can't afford one, so I'm forced to watch game after game and sequel after sequel fly by while all I can do is watch :(
That's good but, rather uninspired slogan. I'm fine with it though.
That's actually pretty smart of Sony to recognize they have a bunch of high profile exclusives coming out this year and trying to sell their brand based off that.
They've come a long way since launching the PS3. And yes I'm very happy to own a PS3.
It does make me wish I have a PS3, but it's a little late to buy one now that it's 5 years into the generation. I'm waiting for next-gen consoles.
that is a much better slogan than the old one, plain simple and to the point
i guess they took out "it only does everything" because they realized it DOES do everything, EXCEPT PLAY PS2 GAMES!!! i wish the slim was backwards compatible :/ i want to play socom 3 sooo bad! lol
i love my PS3 :)
God of War 3 was enough for me to switch, this just solidifies that I made a great decision
I don't care about the slogan. I already own a PS3, primarily for the exclusives- so mission accomplished on their part.
