The lights are on
Today Guinness revealed its list of the top 50 video game characters of all time, and if you don't agree with it, you only have yourself to blame.
And something tells us that gamers will find plenty to disagree with. While no-brainers like Mario, Link, and Solid Snake made the top five, some of the other choices are more controversial, such as "Soap" MacTavish edging out Nathan Drake, Naruto topping Altair, and "Leisure Suit" Larry Laffer beating Street Fighter's Ryu. The list was chosen via an online poll on the Guinness website, during which more than 13,000 gamers voted. Here's the complete list -- what do you think?

Wow, top 3 entirely consists of characters that never talk in their own games outside of grunts (from Mario and Link). Add to that the fat that Yoshi is above Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell), Altair (Assassins Creed 1), and Ezio (Assassins Creed 2/Brotherhood), and this is probably the worst list of video game characters in a long time.
Overall its not bad. However, some characters just shouldn't be on here. I wish I would have known about the poll so I could've voted.
like everybody else, i think there are a few characters that shouldnt be there but for the most part its fine
Leisure Suit Larry beats Bowswer?????
There's already much hate thrown his way, but Shadow the Hedgehog doesn't deserve to lick Sonic's boot heels. And why the hell is Altair higher than Ezio, much less even on the list? He was dull and uninspiring. Lucky for him he had a good game around him.
Surprisingly, not an awful list. Not great, but not awful.
This list is okay
i only have 3 complaints
SHADOW AND NARUTO REALLY!?!
ONES A FREAKING EMO WITH ANNOYING FLASHBACKS THAT KILLED THE SONIC FRANCHISE AND THE OTHER ISN'T EVEN A REAL VIDEO GAME CHARACTER!!!
In their places i say Cole and andrew ryan *didn't see either of these*
thats sad :\
It's not a bad list if you take it as a whole instead of looking at the order too much. Still, the fact that Naruto is even on there, especially above Altair, really irks me.
how is captain price below soap
thats not a very good list at all....theres some good stuff with things that you go like what? how did this dude get on there
I honestly don't think any Call of Duty character should be on this list. I played through both Modern Warfare stories twice and don't remember these characters being iconic in any way.
Also, what about Mass Effect's Commander Shepard??
they basically just picked the most iconic characters from popular games
Meh, the list is okay.
I don't think that the Call of Duty characters should be on this list. I don't think those should be considered iconic, or at least not more than Commander Shepard from Mass Effect!!
This list is pretty mainstream but most of my favorites made the list so um, Snaaaaaaaaaaake!
Oh snap! Eddie Riggs finally gets some love! Yes!
At least Gordon Freeman is top 10
why is Spyro placed at #39?!
were half the people that voted born in the late 90s or something?
I think that Naruto and Goku made the list because Japan must have had lots of fans voting for them. It is Guiness WORLD Records after all.
I know they have appeared in video games, but I don't consider Naruto or Goku video game characters.
