[UPDATE] Dead Island Resurges In Horrifying Trailer

by Annette Gonzalez on Feb 16, 2011 at 07:15 AM

Polish developer Techland's Dead Island has been on a three year hiatus, but thanks to an exclusive look from IGN, Dead Island comes back from the dead in a bloody, gory, unsettling, and overall impressive trailer.

The Call of Juarez developer's zombie-themed shooter was originally expected to drop on Xbox 360 and PC in 2008, and is now expecting a 2011 release on PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. Dead Island is a "first-person zombie-slasher/action-RPG" that takes place in a world overrun by the infected. The players are the last remaining against the bloodthirsty hordes of undead in a tropical paradise. According to IGN, there will be few firearms, and instead most combat will involve everyday items such as knives, machetes, bats, etc.

Deep Silver and Techland's Dead Island puts on quite a show in the latest trailer. Color us impressed. Here's hoping gameplay delivers.

[UPDATE] Deep Silver provided a new hi-res version of the trailer seen below.
