Kotick: Guitar Hero Could Be Resurrected

by Tim Turi on Feb 14, 2011 at 09:30 AM

If you spent your weekend mourning the death of Guitar Hero like a pre-teen coming out of their first relationship, then I've got something you might want to know. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick recently said that there is a chance in the future that the Guitar Hero brand could be "rejuvenated."

"If something's not working, we'll take it off the table, maybe reinvent it in the future, but our focus is really on figuring out what are the things that are going to excite audiences the most," Kotick told CNBC.

"We can never say never, but over the past two years we have seen rapid declines in the music genre, and unfortunately, based on current demand, we simply cannot continue to profitably make these games given the considerable licensing and manufacturing costs," he explained.

There you go. Now dry your tears and settle into a comfortable rebound relationship with with Dead Space 2 or Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
