Activision Reveals Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Game Trailer

by Jeff Cork on Feb 14, 2011 at 02:41 AM

One of the things High Moon Studios and Activision seemed to be most excited about with their Transformers: War for Cybertron collaboration was how the game wasn't tied into any specific movie storylines. As the team put it, that game them the freedom to create their own story, and let gameplay shine instead of being obligated to shoehorn in a movie's skeletal plot. That effort paid off, with the game getting a warm critical reception. Now, High Moon and Activision are working on a new Transformers game, one based on an upcoming film.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a prequel to the film of the same name, which promises to contain "the ultimate battle between the Autobots and Decepticons." The game introduces a new Stealth Force mode, which gives the robots a median point between biped and vehicle. In other words, Bumblebee can drive around with his guns hanging out. There's probably only so much you can realistically do with a robot car, so there you go.

Dark of the Moon will appear on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS (High Moon is taking care of the big boy systems, while Behavior Interactive does the rest), and although no release date for the game has been announced, you can bet that it will appear on or around the film's July 1 debut.
