Nearly Complete Version Of Crysis 2 Leaked Online

A nearly complete build of Crysis 2 has leaked onto the internet via torrents, and the folks at Crytek aren't happy about it.

Kotaku first caught wind of the game's leakage via the Facepunch forums. Users reveal that the game is playable from start to finish, complete with multiplayer and DRM master keys. Definitely a bad scenario for EA and Crytek.

"Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites," Electronic Arts told Kotaku. "Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22."

"Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series' signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community."

Now be a good gamer and wait to buy the game.

  • What idiot would do this!?
  • If you consider yourself a real gamer you will not download and play this leaked version.
  • I'm hardly knowledgable on the tech side of issues like this, but if it's still in development than how the h*ll has it been torrented already?!? I would think an employee leaked the game, how else would someone get ahold of it? If they wanted to show early builds to higher ups or EA wouldn't a hard copy on disc be needed? Hmm...
  • I'm impatiently waiting to buy this.

  • or i could be a thrifty gamer and get the torrent. jk. i would never do that to games, only music and movies.
  • makes me sick to my stomach. i hope people support the industry and don't download or otherwise access this.
  • Well son of a gun. Thats not cool at all.

  • fail

  • *** Pirates. *** them. Seriously *** THEM! I might get banned for this comment, but I don't care anymore. I am sick and *** tired of it. They *** ruin it for everybody else and their pathetic *** brains deny the truth to themselves and everybody else.

They have already brought the entire PC gaming scene to it's *** knees because of their greed, and they still won't *** stop. They continue to be greedy, soulless sits only concerned with getting what they want when they want it. They completely disregard the impact it has on the lives and family of the people who worked tirelessly to create the gaming experiences that these sits are too greedy to pay for.

Then they sit their and b*tch and cry that the PC gaming scene is nearly dead. WoW, Starcraft, and a few others barely manage to keep it alive. Compared to what it was just 10 years ago, pirates are responsible for the sever decline and they still won't *** stop.

I pray to GOD that the US wakes up to this *** *** and starts throwing the book at pirates. I am talking about long ass prison sentences. STOP ruining gaming and ruining the experience for everyone else. Enough is enough. Be a god *** man and pay for your *** you *** heartless hacks.
  • LOL, haha, i already got bored of this game when i was playing the demo, so no point of me playing the full version of it.

  • Real gamers only illegally download movies and music. Unless they're modders.

  • What I want to know is how it was leaked. What kind of security measures do these people have, that someone could get a hold of any build of the game and release it. Sure I'd like to see the person caught and serve prison time for stealing, but I'm just amazed at the shoddy security a lot of these developers have. They put millions into their games, and then stuff like this happens? Then again, I guess if you want to steal something its always possible no matter how good the security is. Just sad either way. I personally will be buying the game though, no piracy here.

  • I doubt a finished Crysis 2 will run on my PC, let alone an "early incomplete, unfinished build."  Plus, its a douchey move to pirate games.

  • God, I hate piraters so much. I can't believe I actually used to do that sh*t too. Real gamers buy their games.

  • Please respect the people who make these games, buy the game, for real, if you actually support the company. Remember, these games are their livelihoods.

  • I know that Gameinformer's job is to write about news in the gaming world, but doesn't posting an article like this just raise the chances that the game will be illegally downloaded? I think some stories are better left untold. Anywho, this is sad news and I hope that the game finds success when it is released in March.
  • I hope investors weren't relying on this. All that development money, and possibly no return. the only hope for them to make money is for the news to not spread... oh well the best gaming website told everyone. I'm a little disappointed in game informer to be honest.
  • and PC gamers wonder why Devs have been abandoning the PC front in recent years...
  • If you have any moral groundings, any sense of loyalty to EA or Crytek or the game industry in general, you will not download this illegally. Illegal downloads = loss in profits. Loss in profits = less money to fund the studio's future products, resulting in a lack of quality. Unless you are purposefully attempting to sabotage the studios success and destroy the possibility of future games released by them, you will not download this from torrents. And before you make the excuse that your one illegal download won't really effect Crytek, realize that this is the mentality of everyone who illegally downloads games, movies, music, etc. You ARE NOT entitled to the merchandise. These people put their time and effort into producing this game, and without successful profits theres a possibility some of them could lose their jobs or get pay cuts.

Crytek, the first Crysis game was amazing, and I played through it several times. I have played the Crysis 2 demo as well, and the gameplay features and graphics/effects were impressive. I am eager to see how the final product turns out when you release it in March. The best to all of you at Crytek. You are a very talented studio, and I hope to continue to see you produce cutting edge games! :D

P.S. Oh, and some more info on this Codename: Kingdoms product would be appreciated. I've been eager to see what this game is since its teaser trailer at E3 last year. Thanks!
  • I am a PC Gamer and I still find Piracy disturbing. Crytek has helped the PC Flourish with Far Cry and Crysis, and yet we still get people pirating their games. Come on guys, If you can't wait to buy a game that comes out next month, play something else, don't pirate the game just because its there.
