Blizzard Still Looking Into Diablo On Console

by Phil Kollar on Feb 10, 2011 at 06:30 AM

Remember last November when job postings appeared for Diablo III hinting at the game making its way to consoles? Or any of the hundred or so other times this rumor has popped up? Yep, here we go again.

This time the rumor has been started by Blizzard itself, as CEO Mike Morhaime said that the developer is "doing an investigation into to see if [Diablo on console] could make sense."

Blizzard, I'm going to save you some time and money from your investigation: Yes, it makes sense. Do it. We already know that Diablo III probably isn't coming out in 2011, so why not use some of that extra development time for a console port?

To Morhaime's (and Blizzard's) credit, he listed off some very important reasons for why the developer has yet to commit to a console version, including figuring out how to patch effectively and how to release expansions. Still, he also happily agreed that Diablo III is probably the one current Blizzard project that would be easiest to port to a console.
