Nintendo Gives Away Replica Of Original Game & Watch Handheld

by Matt Helgeson on Feb 09, 2011 at 03:33 PM

Nintendo has a long history in the handheld gaming business, stretching all the way back to 1980, when it released the standalone juggling game Ball -- the first in the company's Game & Watch series. Now, Nintendo is giving longtime fans the chance to cash in their hard-earned Club Nintendo points on a nicely done working replica of the original unit. The Ball replica will cost you 1200 coins, which must be earned by joining Club Nintendo and filling out product registration surveys on Nintendo products that you purchase. Given that filling out a survey on a Wii console only nets you 160 coins, and Wii and DS games earn you 50 and 30 coins, respectively, we have a feeling that only the true hardcore Nintendo fans will be able to spring for this freebie.
