Free-To-Play Call Of Duty Game Coming To China

by Adam Biessener on Feb 09, 2011 at 10:15 AM

Activision announced today the development of a microtransaction-based Call of Duty game for the Chinese market.

We don't know anything about the game beyond that, but we have to assume that it falls under the new digital initiative with Beachhead Studios.

A strong Call of Duty presence in China could be a huge profit center for the company. The market there is saturated with free-to-play games of all stripes, though, including first-person shooting action.

It'll be interesting to see if games have any more success crossing the Pacific in this direction – though some Eastern titles have performed decently here, the North American market remains dominated by Western games.
