LG Seeks To Block PlayStation 3 Sales

by Matt Miller on Feb 08, 2011 at 06:20 AM

The electronics company has a bone to pick with Sony, and the PS3 is in the crosshairs.

LG and Sony aren't exactly on friendly terms at the moment. Sony has filed a number of patent infringement charges at LG, most notably targeting LG mobile phones. In return, LG is now claiming that Sony is violating four patents with its HDTVs, and four others with its Blu-ray players, including the PlayStation 3.

If any of these cases find that patents have been violated, the related products could be denied the option to import into the United States. Then again, these cases can take a while to be determined. We wouldn't recommend beginning a run on purchasing PS3s quite yet.

Those crazy multi-billion dollar companies and their patents. What will they think of next?
