Hudson Entertainment Reportedly Shutting Its Doors

Hudson Entertainment's brand manager Morgan Haro has posted a blog announcing the unfortunate news that Hudson Entertainment will be shutting down at the end of the month, and gave a few examples of where he thinks the company went astray.

In a long and heartfelt post, Morgan explains that Hudson Entertainment, the western branch of Hudson Soft, will soon be shutting its doors and that all of the company's planned projects will be canceled. Hudson Soft will remain open in Japan, but will reportedly be focused on social games.

Morgan goes on to say that he believes his company innovated with some titles like XBLA's Bomberman: Live and the recent Wii adventure Lost In Shadow, but that they also missed some key opportunities with other franchises, such as Deca Sports. All in all, it's an interesting albeit morose post mortem from someone who obviously cared very much for the company that he worked for. We wish Haro and Hudson Entertainment's other employees good luck going forward.

  • That's too bad some of there games where fun and if I recall these guys made the mario party games right?

  • Not another one. Thoughts and best wishes go out to the newly unemployed.

  • I really didn't see that one coming.

  • It's a shame how many game companies have gone under.  I hope things improve soon.  My best wishes go out to the employees.

  • Best of luck to the talented work who lost their jobs over this.  It' a shame to see Hudson Entertainment go.

  • Best wishes to the former employees. It's rough out there.

  • Bomberman nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite memories regarding games as a kid was playing the original bomberman way back in the day and loving the heck out of it. I wish everyone as Hudson the best of luck, and I hope they can all find new jobs elsewhere in the coming months.

Best wishes to the members of the Hudson crew.

  • Mod

    Long live Adventure Island.

  • Another one bites the dust... :(

  • it sad to watch a giant die before your very eyes. hudson was one of the great companies that no matter what crap game they put out, I always respected them.

They were the only ones who were brave enough to support the pc engine in America.

  • We salute you, Hudson Entertainment. Bon voyage.

  • This is like, 1 every month now.  At least.  Sure they're mostly smaller developers, but still, that's where a lot of the fledgling passion is nowadays.  This sure is a tough industry.

  • Well this blows.  What is going to happen to Bomberman?  Isn't there one in the works for the 3DS?  What studio is developing that one?

  • Give me decent bomberman game on xbl

  • I really should buy Lost in Shadow now. It seems like a game I would be so interested in! Now I regret deciding to wait.

  • This is sad, but almost equally sad is the overall shift in direction for Hudson Soft. I remember that little bee logo fondly from many NES cartridges. They may have inflicted the world with Mario Party, but I couldn't count the number of hours of entertainment I got getting my butt kicked at Adventure Island. Guess this dashes my hopes that that franchise will get included in the recent updated-2D-sequels-to-downloadable-services trend.

  • The must come with better games.
