UPDATE: Is Ubisoft's I Am Alive Now A Downloadable Game?

by Phil Kollar on Feb 07, 2011 at 02:30 PM

UPDATE: The Sixth Axis is reporting that the original comments from Jeux Video regarding the changes to I Am Alive were apparently a joke, as explained by Jeux Video themselves. I'm not entirely sure what's funny about it, but then I've never really understood French people. Curiously, Ubisoft remains without comment or clarification on what's going on with I Am Alive.

ORIGINAL STORY: Remember I Am Alive, the survival action game announced by Ubisoft in 2009? Yeah, I barely do either. Ubisoft has been quiet on this interesting title for a long time, but some interesting new details have surfaced from a French interview.

French site Jeux Video has posted an interview with Ubisoft's Jade Raymond in which she reveals that the game is coming out in 2011. It has also apparently made the switch from a retail release to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

So is this news for real? I contacted Ubisoft, but received a standard reply:

"We have not officially announced anything regarding the launch date or platforms for I Am Alive.  We have nothing to announce at this time."

We'll keep you updated as soon as we hear more about how and when you'll be accessing a virtual, earthquake-ravaged Chicago.
