Infinite Money And Power Nodes In Dead Space 2

by Joe Juba on Feb 05, 2011 at 05:59 AM

Dead Space 2 is a harrowing and tense game, and you never know when the next necromorph will jump out and try to eat your face. Improve your chances of survival with this little trick...though maybe "cheat" is a better word.

It all happens at the very end of Chapter 14. By that point, you've practically beaten the game, so this technique is mainly useful for building up your reserves of nodes and money for your new game+ playthroughs...perfect if you want to give the Zealot difficulty a try.

You should watch the video below for the play-by-play instructions, but here are the basics: By saving and reloading, you can continually backtrack to a room that contains power nodes and a ruby conductor (which can be sold for 10,000 credits). By repeating the process, you can build up an infinite store of money and nodes.

I've tested this myself and can confirm that it also works on the 360 version. A few things the video doesn't point out: You won't always get two nodes and a conductor. The room is slightly randomized, so sometimes it's just a node, and other times it's a small amount of money. After getting your haul and saving, you don't actually have to quit and then reload; just select "checkpoint restart" from the menu and you should be good to go again. You also need to have one node in your inventory before starting the trick, since you'll need it to open the power-locked door for the first time.

If you want to try this trick, I'd recommend doing it sooner rather than later. You never know when those wily developers will release a patch that closes down exploits.
