Weekend Warrior 02/04/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Feb 04, 2011 at 01:00 PM

It's Superbowl weekend! Are you watching the game or playing your own? Check out what we're playing this weekend then post what games you're working on in the comments section!

Reiner: I’ll probably finish my third playthrough of Dead Space and start up my fourth on the Zealot difficulty. I played it on Normal multiple times to upgrade all of my weapons to max levels. After I finish up the Zealot playthrough, I’m going to try to complete the game on Hardcore. Does anyone out there have any tips for Hardcore? I’d love to hear them. I also plan on watching the Super Bowl, mostly to see the Captain America trailer.

Jeff C: This weekend I’ll still be killing ostriches and mummies in Two Worlds II. I’m having a great time with it, and I’m loving the amount of customization that’s at my disposal. Say what you will about Two Worlds, but at least I haven’t had my Xbox 360 crash on me like clockwork while playing it like I did with another open-world RPG. Other than that, I’m hoping to start Dead Space 2. I’m a little embarrassed that I haven’t even cracked that one open yet, but I’m waiting until I have a nice block of time to devote to the game. I’m also hoping to get around to installing a new ROM on my Android phone to make it run faster because I am a huge nerd who can’t leave things alone. Oh well.

Tim: This weekend I’ll be putting aside WoW and Amnesia: The Dark Descent in order to power through Dead Space 2. I’m not even a fourth of the way through the game and I already want to play it again. I haven’t felt that since BioShock 2 earlier this year. Can’t wait to dig back in.

Dan: My dad's plane just landed and he'll be here until Monday. That pretty much translates to "I'm going to be drunk and doing dumb stuff for four days," and I can't wait. Taking him to the Drinking Spelling Bee tomorrow, but it'll just be random bars outside of that. I'm also going to subject him to a bunch of games that he'll definitely hate.

Phil: Now that I’ve wrapped up Dead Space 2’s awesome single-player campaign, I may check out a bit of the multiplayer this weekend, although I don’t expect it to last me very long. I’m also hoping to finally get back to some DC Universe Online and maybe wrap up Ghost Trick, which I’m very near the end of. If I have any free time left after all that nonsense, I need to play some more Two Worlds II to prepare for running through the co-op missions with Jeff Cork.

Annette: Heading out to Vegas next week for D.I.C.E. so when I'm not preparing for my trip, I'll finally start up Lair of the Shadow Broker ME2 DLC. Otherwise I sense some Borderlands in my future.

Jeff M: I didn’t get to play a lot of games this week so I’m looking forward to spending a good chunk of time finishing up the original Dead Space. I always have the urge to stop playing the game every time I finish an objective (kudos to Visceral for imbuing each chapter with a sense of accomplishment), but I’m hoping to plow through as much of it as I can this weekend – when I’m not watching the Super Bowl, that is.

Ben Hanson:
This weekend I hope to finish off Donkey Kong Country Returns. World 7 has taught me that apes don’t belong in factories…and snakes don’t belong in Alaska. I will also be spending more time with an iPhone game called Papa Sangre. It’s an audio game where you have to navigate the afterlife while dodging man-eating hogs, it’s the only game I can think of that I prefer to play with my eyes closed.  Have a good weekend!

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
