Ridge Racers Cruise Consoles & Nintendo 3DS

by Matthew Kato on Feb 04, 2011 at 08:00 AM

Namco Bandai has announced its next iteration in the Ridge Racer series titled Ridge Racer Unbounded for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, as well as a new gameplay video for Ridge Racer 3D on Nintendo's 3DS.

The company isn't revealing exactly when in 2012 Unbounded will come out, but it is talking about one interesting aspect of the title's gameplay: Damage. We certainly expect drifting to be the main focus of the game, but Namco Bandai is saying that developer Bugbear Entertainment (Sega Rally Revo, FlatOut series) is adding more destruction in general with this game. Just how it'll be incorporated is unknown, but the initial trailer for Unbounded makes a point of stressing it. Take a look below.

Meanwhile, Ridge Racer 3D is slated to come out sometime this spring, likely in the launch window for the Nintendo 3DS when it comes out on March 27. The game includes a one-button option for easy drifting (or you can do it like you always have, as well), four-player local wireless play, leaderboards, and more. Check out the new gameplay video and a few new screens below.
