Kirby, Donkey Kong Earn Platinum-Selling Status

by Jeff Cork on Jan 28, 2011 at 07:55 AM

We absolutely loved Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns, and it looks as though we’re in good company. According to Q3 2010 financial documents from Nintendo showing game sales from April-December 2010, those titles sold 1.4 million and 4.2 million units respectively.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future was another million-plus seller, moving 1.87 million copies worldwide. As great as that may seem, it’s diddly squat compared to the Wii’s pack-in titles Wii Sports (12.1 million) and Wii Sports Resort (10.2 million). And if you bought Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition hoping to eventually hawk it on eBay you should know you have one of about 1.95 million copies of the game that have been sold. And there’s always the possibility that Nintendo may make even more. “Limited Edition,” eh?
