THQ's Homefront Being Moved?

by Matthew Kato on Jan 26, 2011 at 03:17 AM

THQ has been promising future installments for the Homefront series (the first one comes out on March 8), but for developer Kaos Studio, the next Homefront could be a different beast altogether. There is a report that THQ is considering moving the project and possibly some of the Kaos talent to its new THQ Montreal studio.

Develop spoke with a source who said that the many of Kaos' 200 workers in NY are worried about losing their jobs with the possibility that THQ might transfer the IP to Montreal and close Kaos. Kaos' general manager David Votypka didn't deny that a change is being considered or rule out any possibilities. "Seeing as New York is not the most inexpensive location to develop games, utilizing Montreal one way or another is understandable. We've submitted various shared development scenarios to THQ, each have different pros, cons, and different costs. They are all being considered, but I don't expect that their final decision will be made for some time."
