Update: Shin Megami Tensei DS Spin-Off Getting 3DS Facelift

by Phil Kollar on Jan 26, 2011 at 08:35 AM

Update: Atlus has confirmed that Devil Survivor for 3DS will release in North America this summer. Read the announcement for yourself over at the Atlus forums.

Original Story: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor released on the DS to mostly favorable impressions in 2009 (see GI's review). Now the tactical RPG spin-off of the SMT series will be getting an enhanced re-release on Nintendo's upcoming 3DS handheld.

Titled Devil Survivor Over Clock, the 3DS version will feature a number of improvements. Where the original game's plot took place over the period of a week, Over Clock will add an eighth day into the mix, as well as 20 new demons to summon (bringing the total to 150), full voice acting, a higher resolution, new maps, and new difficulties.

Andriasang has the full report (via Famitsu) and says that the new version is already 90% complete, so it may be ready for release close to the 3DS late February launch in Japan. No word from Atlus on if Over Clock will make it to North America, but since the original was so well-received, we'll keep our fingers crossed.
