UPDATE: Dead Space 2 Now Up And Running On Steam

UPDATE: According to the Dead Space 2 game page on Steam, this morning's problems with letting users activate the game is apparently fixed, as the early notice has been removed.

ORIGINAL STORY: Many gamers were excited for today's midnight launch of Dead Space 2, but some PC owners are getting left out in the cold thanks to some problems with download service Steam.

Gamers expecting to activate their purchased copies through Steam have been thwarted because their keys don't work, and currently the Steam website has the following message (below) up on the game's site page:

We'll update you as new info becomes available.

  • That's why I always buy physical copies of games. Bummer for PC gamers who already paid for their game. Hope it gets resolved quickly.
  • It'll be fixed later I bet.
  • That sucks, pulled an all nighter and beat the game already so they are missing out, which sucks.
  • It sucks how this generation is headed, incomplete games from the producers and an big overreliance on DLC to fix these problems. I am looking at you Fallout New Vegas and those missions left out of Mass Effect 2 also.
  • Exaclty why I won't get into Digitaly Downlaoding my games.

  • That sucks. Anyway, I can't wait till I get home later tonight so I can pop that game into my 360 and wittle the hours of my life away..... in complete fear, I suppose

  • Great job, Steam!

  • According to Kotaku, it has been fixed now.

  • I have definitely had my share of problems with disc based games not wanting to activate or run correctly as well.

It is an unfortunate issue but the thing is if they get it resolved asap.

  • Isn't $60 for a PC game a bit steep? Especially since, through Steam, you don't even get a box, booklet, etc. It's only $57 on Amazon right now for a boxed copy.
  • Epic Failure.

  • Good, I hope it cost EA millions to fix it. That is what you get when you charge $59.99 for a PC version when it should be $49.99. Karma's a b*tch, eh EA?
  • Oh wow, look at that! We've never seen Steam screw up before! Oh wait...

  • YEah!

  • Didn't want to pass up on the SE, so I guess I saved myself the problem by not buying it on Steam. Good move on my part apparently.
