Dead Space 2's Severed DLC Announced

On the day of the game's release, EA has announced its first DLC entitled Severed.

Although an exact release date and pricing info haven't been divulged, EA says that Severed features two chapters to the single-player campaign. You'll play as Sprawl security guard Gabe Weller from Dead Space Extraction as he attempts to get himself and Lexine Murdock to safety. Their Severed adventures will run parallel to Isaac Clarke's in Dead Space 2.

EA's press release says that the company will be "coming soon" to Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network. and makes no mention of the PC DLC.

  • Hopefully it's included with the purchase of the game or at least cheaply priced, I hate when games have dlc right away and aren't included.

  • I wish they would just include this with the initial purchase of Dead Space 2.
  • spiffy.  i'm about to head to gamestop to get my copy now.  just sucks that i can only play it for about 2 hours and then it's work time.  blech!

  • Cool can't wait .

  • Cool.

  • the PS3 version has DEADSPACE 2 / IGNITION / EXTRACTION. U want MORE 4 FREE???? GET REAL. I am VERY happy they are starting work on CAMPAIGN DLC. I hate multiplayer DLC.
  • You can't complain about this being sold as DLC.  2 additional story chapters based on 2 seperate characters?  Sounds pretty solid, and sounds like $10.  I will get it though, being the Dead Space fan that I am...

PS: Don't forget everything that IS packed into DS2, especially for PS3 owners who happen to own the move setup

  • What, why do the pc guys get shafted.
  • Awesome! Picked up Dead Space 2 at midnight last night. It's amazing! Dead Space fans won't be disappointed!

  • I'm okay with them having a plan that involves DLC releases shortly after release, and I'll pay for them. It beats the hell out of waiting 6 months after launch when I've forgotten how to play the game and have very likely already traded it in.
  • Single player DLC eh...... vvvveeerry interesting.

  • Awesome. Just like Dead Money. In fact, how about you don't even bother selling the game on the PC? It would certainly make me happier.

  • I still want an explanation to the last 4 minutes of the game and what the heck happened to the story. I have never scratched my head so much in such a short amount of time. At any rate I am sure that it will end horribly for those characters, don't imagine dlc characters surviving.

  • Once again a developer sticks to the gamers by immediately announcing additional content that costs money as soon as the game is released.

  • I hate this trend of launch day DLC announcements. It's a slap in the face, really. Also, Dead Space 2 on two discs (360)... The latter half of the 360's console life could get pretty disk-y.
  • Don't know how I feel about release day DLC, should it be included on the disc day one or is it incentive to buy and keep playing.

  • That is my main complaint about the original, once u finished that was it... now there is more waiting for me! yay!

  • now thats some ***. they need to just include this stuff in the game if its gonna come out that quick after the release

  • Just a quick survey... how soon after launch is it acceptable to release (not announce) DLC?

2 months IMO. That gives me time to play through a couple of times and still have recent interest in the game. Longer is fine too, if the offering is good enough to spark my interest again. Release sooner than 2 months probably isn't cool.

I don't really care when they announce DLC. The game has been finished for awhile so they've probably been working on the DLC. And announcing it at launch probably gets better marketing penetration. After all, not all gamers check gaming sites on a daily basis.

  • "Evil Activision...blahblahblah" When will everyone realize it's ALL corporations. Now look at EA. Making everyone pay for something that should come on the disc for free (most likely). IMO,  you beat the game, credits roll, and the screen says (like the old days) "You have unlocked 'Severed'". I miss those days
