Call Of Duty Blamed For Russian Airport Terrorist Attack

by Bryan Vore on Jan 25, 2011 at 06:33 AM

Whenever a violent attack happens, it doesn't  take long for someone to blame video games. English-language Russian news channel RT is the latest outlet to mention video games alongside an atrocity, insinuating a connection between the recent suicide bombing at Domodedovo International Airport outside Moscow and the "No Russian" mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

For those behind on international news, yesterday a suicide bomber blew himself up in the international arrivals section of the airport, killing 35 and injuring over 180. In the aftermath, RT issued a report attempting to tie the incident to the sequence in Modern Warfare 2 where players have the option to shoot down civilians in a Russian airport.

"With so many seemingly downloading, watching, and playing this game, you have to consider that this bloodbath would ever-so-closely resemble reality," said reporter Lauren Lyster before eliciting similar quotes from others.

Take a look at the video for yourself to see what you think of the connection.
