by Annette Gonzalez on Jan 24, 2011 at 06:45 AM

The Pokémon Company is planning a big year for the franchise, kicking off with the North American release of Black and White versions in March. The company plans on rolling out a new animated TV series and movie, trading card game expansion (Pokémon TCG: Black & White), toy line, and more.

The animated series and full-length feature will air on Cartoon Network. The movie, Pokémon Zoroark: Masters of Illusions will air on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. Then two episodes of the animated series Pokémon: Black & White will premiere a week later on Feb. 12 beginning at 9 a.m. The DS titles hit March 6 in North America and the card game will launch in April.

Finally, The Pokémon Company also plans on launching a nationwide Pokémon Black Version & White Version tour that will make stops at major malls starting Feb. 5 over seven weeks. You'll get a first look at the new games, free movie screenings, photo ops with Pokémon characters, and more. There will also be special character distributions throughout the year at select retailers for new Pokémon not otherwise available in the game. Pokémon trading card tournaments will take place at Play! Pokémon events around the world, that will culminate into the World Championships in San Diego this August.
