EA Predicts Super Bowl XLV Matchup With Madden 11

by Matt Bertz on Jan 22, 2011 at 07:36 AM

Which two teams will fight for the championship in Super Bowl XLV? EA Sports cranked up the Madden simulator to find out.

According to the simulations provided by EA Sports to ESPN, the running game will be the deciding factor in the AFC Championship matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets. Though both Ben Roethlisberger and Mark Sanchez have decent outings, Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall steals the spot light. The former Illinois standout rushes for two touchdowns, including the game-clinching fourth quarter scamper, in a hard fought 21-19 Steelers win.

The Cold War showdown between bitter NFC North rivals the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers also looks close when you glance at the box score, but after the Packers jumped to an early lead in the first quarter the Bears played catch-up all day, ultimately falling 24-17. Aaron Rodgers continues to make it look easy, throwing for 313 and three touchdowns. The stage proved too large for Jay Cutler, who posted an underwhelming 51 percent completion percentage and tossed one of his signature "throw it up and pray" interceptions.

As a Vikings fan, nothing makes me more sick to my stomach than seeing the Packers in the Super Bowl. Here's hoping the AFC comes out on top!
