Crytek Starting Hiring For iOS Development

We might need some faster iPhones if Crysis and Far Cry developer Crytek is getting into the mobile market.

According to Develop, Crytek has recently posted ads for iOS developers. This is the first we’ve heard of Crytek getting into the mobile gaming market. Crytek is notorious for developing games that tax PCs to their limit, so what kind of iPhone/iPad games might they make? Could we start hearing about Crysis for the iPhone within the next year? We can only hope.

  • I imagine the mobile game will cause iPhones/iPads to explode with sheer visual prowess.
  • I would play a Crysis or Far Cry iOS game. Even if my ipod will be set on fire by the graphics.

  • My god... imagine the possibilities.
  • PLZ say this is a lie... if this trend continues all good gaming studios will turn to mobile gaming...
  • I hope it will hold my attention longer the Rage HD... :/
  • I hope it's a cart racer :) Seriously GI - who in their right mind would want Crysis for a SYSTEM WITH NO BUTTONS!?! It's saying stuff like that that gives Gameloft ideas, you twits. Everyone knows that the games that work best on iphone are designed around the touch screen. Same thing holds true for the DS for that matter. Hopefully, Crytek or Free Radical/Crytek UK are looking more at games like Angry Birds, Kirby's Cursed Canvas and whatnot instead of thinking, "How many virtual buttons and virtual sticks will we need to make a stupid iphone FPS?"
  • I just think Gaming and Apple should never go together... next thing would be Crysis for the mac... that would just suck so bad.

  • Considering what Unreal 3 did on the Iphone, I'm ecstatic with wanting to see what the Cryengine 3 can accomplish.
  • Lol @ all the Apple haters. I agree that a FPS is a bad idea for a touch screen only device, however. Nothing like an iOS article to bring out trolls.
  • What are these guys doing?  THey're suppose to be working on Timesplitters 4!

  • Consoles would be the victor for me. Mobile; maybe...

  • Wow, as great as games are already looking for iOS, I simply cannot wait to see what Crytek comes up with.

  • The iOS is really gaining popularity among game developers.  I don't think Apple will reach the point of truly competing with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, but iOS games will definitely be prominent.

  • cool!

  • considering how little time my brand new ipod touch 4's battery life is on full brightness setting playing infinity blade, you would have to play this while plugged in ( unless if they make angry birds 2: extreme)

  • the future, is in your hands..

  • The company known for creating the most demanding power hungry games ever (in their respective times)... developing for a iOS. *shrug* I don't even know what to think anymore, the whole world is UPSIDE DOWN

  • Talk about a change of pace! These guys have made some of my favorite shooter franchises of the last 6 years, pushing graphics and my expenses to keep up through the roof, so this is.....different.

  • On iPad, this would be epic. Which is exactly why I plan to get one.
