Devil May Cry Coming To iOS

by Joe Juba on Jan 11, 2011 at 09:54 AM

When you think of games that work well with the iPhone's touch screen controls, Devil May Cry probably isn't the first to come to mind. That isn't stopping Capcom, though. The company is releasing Devil May Cry 4: Refrain, a mobile version of the console original.

Refrain is greatly simplified compared to DMC 4. Players guide Nero through rooms arranged on a grid, mashing the touch screen to execute moves using his guns, sword, and arm. Dante is also planned as a later addition, but only Nero will be playable for at the game's release later this month. We won't know whether Refrain retains any of the technical, combo-driven elements of the combat until we get our hands on it...but you shouldn't expect the mobile phone game to compete with its console counterpart.

This paring-down strategy didn't work particularly well with Street Fighter IV, but I guess Capcom is one of those "If at first you don't succeed..." companies. Anyway, head over to slidetoplay for more details and to see a video of DMC4: Refrain in action.
