Silent Hill: Downpour Takes The Series To A Moist Place

Konami has given up the goods on the latest installment of Silent Hill, Silent Hill: Downpour, and it's all in the latest issue of Game Informer Magazine. We can't divulge too many details here, but expect to see some new places in Silent Hill and a whole lot of water. It's falling from the sky! It's running from the ceiling! It's in puddles on the ground! If you're hydrophobic, you're probably already drying your pants in terror.

Look for more details (OK, actual details) in the February issue, which should be hitting your mailbox soon.

  • I already consider Silent Hill a dead franchise. I'm sorry.
  • awesome new silent hill game! woooo!

  • To bad I'm not wearing swim trunks...
  • Hopefully this revitalizes the survival-horror genre. I have liked all the Silent Hill games really, even Homecoming was decent. The Room was a bit much, but it wasnt really a Silent Hill game. This looks killer though. That screenie is in-game I hope? Is the water in this the equivalent of darkness in Alan Wake?! Im all for this, sounds great!

  • Thanks for that little insight, Luke......

Anyways, the article looks interesting; not liking the title, but a large playable area sounds great. Alan Wake was a major disappointment for me; Resident Evil is now just an action franchise, so let's hope Silent Hill can return to form!
  • I think at its most bada** this game will make me want to take a shower.
  • So, this guy's dark past involves chronic bed-wetting?

Somehow, even the giant doll monster from Homecoming was scarier.

  • They could take some cues from Amnesia, the water monster in that game was pretty freaky.

Give us a moody, depressed atmosphere and some well thought-out enemies and I'm in.

  • I actually ended up enjoying Homecoming more than I originally thought. It does a good job of being creepy. With progress, this could be a great game.

  • Isn't this the seventh game in the franchise?
  • Cool, can't wait to read about it. After Shattered Memories I'm looking to get that bad taste out of my mouth.

Cue "Shattered Memories was awesome you fool!" responses in 3...2...
  • This looks like it will be a good game.  I just hope the music is as good as it has been in the past.  Since Akira Yamaoka left Konami last year, the music may not be as good, but I'll keep my hopes up.

  • You jerks.

  • The only thing I need to know is, who is the developer of this one? If it is the same as homecoming or if it is a wester studio I will not pay attention to this game. In other words, if team silent is not making this game I am not interested at all.
  • I love Silent Hill, can't wait!

  • I'm excited, I don't think SH has gotten old yet. It's one of the only actual horror games around now. RE is not horror, it's just action. I've never found it scary.

Hopefully they bring in some new stuff! And I hope the battle system/controls aren't more scary then the game.

  • Sorry but they burned me on the last one. NO INVERT OPTION. When I contacted the developers and konami they both pretty much said "F-you, people don't use it. We don't see the need to update the game and add that in." So now I say I don't see the need in buying anymore of your series.
  • Mod

While the Silent Hill series isn't as good as it used to I'm still interested in the series and Downpour sounds like it might be pretty cool.

  • I might rent before I buy. I love the first few Silent Hill games, but that was about it.

  • Despite the bad reviews, I loved Homecoming, and I have high hopes for this game as well.
