3DS' Battery Life May Top Out At Five Hours

by Jeff Cork on Jan 08, 2011 at 03:17 AM

Nintendo has revealed the approximate battery life for its 3DS handheld, and let's just say that it's a bit...needier than its DS counterparts. According to Nintendo, if you're playing a game that uses the system's built-in 3D functionality, you can expect to see between three to five hours of battery life between charges. If you're kicking it old school and playing DS games, those numbers increase to an estimated five to eight hours.

Players will be able to adjust the brightness levels of the displays to squeeze every last drop of juice out of each charge, but until we actually get a unit in our office we can't say for sure how much of a difference that will make. Fortunately, the system's battery recharges in about three-and-a-half hours.

If it's any consolation, my Atari Lynxes drain six AA batteries dry in about three hours flat.
