Stardock Hires Civilization V Lead Designer And Fantasy Writer
Personally, I was rather surprised when Civilization V lead designer Jon Shafer left developer Firaxis just a few months after the popular turn-based strategy title launched. Now it turns out he has joined semi-struggling competitor Stardock.
Joystiq reports that Shafer has joined fantasy author Dave Stern as the two latest hires for Stardock. Both new employees will be helping to improve Elemental: War of Magic, Stardock's recently-released fantasy strategy title that certainly needs all the help it can get. Stern will be focused on better implementation of lore in the game, while Shafer will also be overseeing an unannounced upcoming game from the developer.
Following Elemental's critical failure, Stardock went through some difficult layoffs, so it's good to see them bringing new blood on, especially with the pedigree of Shafer. Here's hoping these guys help Elemental reach its potential.
