Child's Play Donations Broke $2 Million In 2010

by Jeff Marchiafava on Jan 03, 2011 at 11:30 AM

About a month ago we told you that charity organization Child's Play was still more than half a million dollars behind what it raised in 2009. Today we're happy to report that in the final few weeks of 2010 the group managed to raise enough donations to set a new annual record.

Gamasutra is reporting that Child's Play raised $2,294,317 in 2010, topping last year's total of $1.7 million. The charity provides video games to hospitalized children, as well as books and toys.

This year's Humble Indie Bundle helped Child's Play reach its goal, raising $300,000 in the last two weeks of December. LoadingReadyRun’s Desert Bus for Hope marathon and Microsoft's Fate of Carmine promotion were also big supporters, raising in $207,000 and $150,000 respectively.

Over the past eight years Child's Play has raised almost $9 million dollars.
