Super Replay – Overblood

Here at Game Informer, we have a staff of experienced gamers that have played and defeated just about every game you can imagine. However, we were utterly defeated by one particular title last summer...1997's Overblood. I had the main game picked for our Revolution X episode of Replay, but I needed to grab something from the vault for our Roulette game. I scanned the Playstation section and spotted Overblood, an EA-published game that I had never even heard of. What followed was perhaps the most unsuccessful moment of our gaming careers, and it was all caught on tape. With Tim at the controls and Reiner, Matt Helgeson, and myself trying to figure out what to do, we froze to death in the very first room of the game.

Well, we're back for revenge. We vow to play through the entirety of this completely forgettable survival horror title, and we're giving you lucky readers the chance to watch the drama unfold. Enjoy.

1/10 UPDATE: The password thing might have gotten messed up since people posted them in the comments, but our readers have put together a Facebook group for people that watched all six parts. Join and mourn the loss from Part 2 with others that know your pain.

1/12 UPDATE: Yeah, we got us some Pipo shirts.

  • This episode was popular because we saw them fail so horribly at it. If they would have found the voice recorder in Pipo's room, it wouldn't have been so funny. I was also kind of emotionally involved because whenever they died (or almost died) I started getting nervous, since if they would have kept on failing I knew that they would have not of kept going. One of them even started to leave when he was getting crushed by the door. The frequent using of save points will sort of destroy the funniness of failure, but who knows? If this is just the beginning of the game, and there is only one save point in sight, then maybe the save points will just get even more separate later on. Also, is there even combat?
  • LMAO! That statue part made my day.. xD

This is why I continuously watch the replays you guys do, good stuff, can't wait to see how this game ends.

I cant believe i spent an hour and 37 minutes watching this... :o

    but it was worth it.

  • Oh wow that was great. i cant believe i watched the whole thing, but it was worth it XD

  • Hilarious. I rented this twice and never made it more than 20 minutes in to it.

  • Haha you guys are great i hope you can figure out the save problem

  • Haha I get your joke now, so where's our real super replay?

  • Heads up, Overblood II is for the PlayStation also...

  • I actually let out an audible gasp when I saw this on the homepage. Too bad I can't watch it yet because I'm out of town for New Years and  only have an iPhone for my Internet needs right now. First thing I'm doing doing when I get back to Houston is loading this bad boy up on the laptop. Can't wait!!

  • YES!

  • I hope you guys can play this whole thing without saving:) I mean, it's so genuinely tense whenever you're close to dying like this. One death could send you back to the very beginning of the game! That's brutal and old school and about as far away as you can get from modern games. Unlike the entirety of RE5 or Dead Space, the notion of having to play more Overblood is genuinely terrifying.
  • How could they have known it was "down,up,down"?

  • You guys should make a rule to only save like every 45 minutes! That would be so much funnier and tenser!

  • I'd watch this if Apple would get their act together and put Flash on an iPad.  I have a laptop, the battery just runs down too darn fast.

  • Lol this was awesome. I can't believe I had so much fun watching a terrible game. Lol and the fail at the 40 minute mark had me on the floor laughing. You guys should get medals for dedication because I would have given up at that point.

lol I should have gone to bed a hour and a half ago, can't wait for episode 2.

  • I am ecstatic that this is finally happening and so genuinely empathetic that this game is so horrible.  I wonder what else Steve is hiding besides key-cards with the extra baggage space?

  • awesome super replay dudes

oh yah.....i think the save chip is in the room where u find the robot :P
  • WEINERLESS STEVE

The song from Toy Story that you guys were thinking of was Randy Newman's "I Will go Sailing No More". Newman did all he music for Toy Story... "I Believe I Can Fly" was in Space Jam.

  • Don;t you usually post new parts daily. wheres part 2?

  • where do u have to send that password :))......i need this replay to go on....its friggin amazing :D

  • hurray for part 2!!!
